Brentwood's Orchestras for Young Musicians

Brentwood Junior String Orchestra

Since 1990, BJSO has given young string players an opportunity to enjoy orchestral playing. In 2015 we celebrate 25 years of BJSO.

Since the start, our reputation has spread and we are now attracting a huge number of players. String players usually stay in the orchestra until they are year 7 or when it is hoped that they will progress into either Phoenix Flames (the training orchestra for the Youth Orchestra) or the Phoenix Youth Orchestra.

The orchestra gives at least two performacnes a year, depending on events with the other orchestras in the organisation. We also have social events such as a Christmas party or trip to a pantomime. In addition to these regular events, BJSO has also played at the Chelmsford, Leigh-on-Sea and Southend Music Festivals.
